Questions, answered.
What is a NYS security guard license?+
It's a state-issued credential from the New York Department of State that legally allows you to work as a security guard anywhere in New York. Most security jobs in the state require it before you can be hired.
Why do I need to get fingerprinted?+
New York State requires a criminal background check for every security guard applicant. Fingerprinting is the official method used to run that check. There's no way around it — but we make it painless by scheduling everything for you.
What is IdentoGO?+
IdentoGO is the official NYS-authorized fingerprinting vendor. They have locations across the state. We book your appointment at the IdentoGO location closest to you, so you just show up at the time we schedule.
How long does the whole process take?+
Most clients are fully processed within 2–6 weeks. Class scheduling and fingerprint availability vary by location. The State then takes additional time to issue the actual license. We move your file forward the same business day we receive your info.
What happens after I pay?+
You'll get an immediate confirmation email. Within one business day, a Solidium specialist contacts you to confirm your details and begin booking. You don't lift another finger until it's time to attend your class and fingerprint appointment.
Do I need any experience?+
No. The NYS license is an entry-level credential. The required 8-hour pre-assignment training course covers everything you need to know. No prior security experience is required.
What if I have a criminal record?+
A record doesn't automatically disqualify you, but the State reviews each case individually. Be honest on the form — if there's a likely issue, we'll flag it before submitting so you don't waste fees. Final approval is always at the State's discretion.
Is my personal information safe?+
Yes. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, accessed only by the Solidium staff handling your file, and used only to process your application. We never sell or share your information.
