The NYS 8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training

Every NYS Security Guard applicant is required to complete an 8-hour pre-assignment training course before they can be licensed. Here's what it is — and how we handle the scheduling for you.

What it is

A short classroom or approved online course covering the role of a security guard, legal powers and limits, emergency situations, and ethics. It's the state's baseline — you must complete it before your license can be issued.

What it costs

Course fees vary by provider. Guardian Group Services — the provider we typically coordinate with — charges about $70. That's paid directly to the school, not to us.

Where people get tripped up

Finding an actually-approved provider, matching class times to a real work schedule, and losing the completion certificate before the state ever sees it. Rescheduling, name mismatches, and lost paperwork are the top three reasons a license gets delayed.

How Solidium handles it

Once you sign up we coordinate a seat with an approved provider on a date that actually fits your schedule, confirm your registration, and make sure your completion certificate flows into your application packet. You show up, take the class, get certified. We do the rest.

The step-by-step logistics — exact appointment codes, forms, payees, and mailing details — are sent by email after you sign up and paid customers can track them on their private progress page.
